On July 9, 2018, Council officially passed the Vision Georgetown Secondary Plan. Since the Public Open House held on April 17, 2018, some final adjustments were made before it was passed:
- mapping of the community core was changed to accommodate a more linear north-south corridor
- a storm water drainage area was given a new planning classification as a storm water conveyance corridor
As is required by the Planning Act, the Official Plan Amendments are now before the Region of Halton for consideration and approval.
The Vision Georgetown lands, a 1000-acre development between 10 and 15 Side Roads, and Trafalgar Road and Eighth Line, is slated to accommodate roughly 19,000 new residents and 1,700 new jobs starting in 2021. Timing will depend on when and if the Plan is approved by the Region.
